Salamander Launders

Sizes and Applications
Introduction
Launders are pre-fired shapes in clay graphite for the transfer of ferrous and non-ferrous molten metals from furnace to furnace or from furnace to ladle. They provide a metal transfer system that has a high resistance to erosion and is virtually maintenance free when installed correctly. They are available in sizes to suit most runner systems and applications. Launders are also suitable for use as spouts in teapot spout casting ladles.

Applications

This launder/is used mainly for cupola spouts and provides a maintenance free spout. In a typical application the launder would be replaced every 4-6 weeks, needing minimal cleaning between shifts. The non-wetting properties of clay graphite ensure that slag build up during operation is minimised resultingin good metalflow from the beginning to the end ofthe working shift.
